Inspiring Movies
These are my Top 10 inspiring movies. It almost killed me to have to boil it down to 10 and I'm not sure I got it right, but certainly I love these 10. I've also listed all my honorable mentions.

Life Is Beautiful
Easily my #1 pick because (1) I'm a father & (2) no other movie has stayed on mind afterwards for as long as this one did (a month!). A soaring celebration of love and the human spirit.
The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring
Watching this epic series is a sheer exhilaration for me. Perfection in every on-screen moment. I am wildly inspired by the story line of good vs evil, and by the filmmaking itself. (Dungeon's and Dragons was a great part of my high school years and this movie could do better to paint my D&D memories on the big screen).
Braveheart
Mel Gibson as a man's man. Enough said.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Is there a better example on film of how to seize the day and enjoy life? "Life moves pretty fast.
Bruce Almighty
Someday I'm going to write an essay on all the messages I love in this movie. For now I'll just say that Jim Carrey goes up another notch in my mind for choosing such a spiritual script, and screenwriter Steve Oedekerk deserves big kudos for getting such a meaningful message to the masses in such a great way (That's twice now since he previously wrote Patch Adams).
When We Were Kings
I'm a big Muhammad Ali fan and this is THE Ali film. Ali is beaming so much confidence, spirit and light. Talk about courage against all odds! See if you can walk away from this movie without chanting, "Ali, boom-ba-yay!" (Dang, I realize I've only seen it once. Must see it again!)
Bowling for Columbine
Michael Moore (the filmmaker) is a national treasure. Watching him do his work inspires me to want to do mine better. His work is meaningful, heartfelt, BRAVE, inspired impactful, real, and significant.
Jerry Maguire
What is it about this film that inspires so many? Jerry is so flawed, but he understands one key concept -- "Heart is what inspires people."We should all stay up all night, write our mission statement, and put it all on the line to live it.
The Legend of Bagger Vance
A slow, quiet film about golf AND life. You my have missed it, but don't. The golfing tips expoused by mystical caddy Bagger Vance are the best I've ever heard or read on finding our authentic self: "Inside each and every one of us is our one true, authentic swing. Something we was born with. Something that's ours and ours alone. Something that can't be learned... something that's got to be remembered." Quotes from this movie are plastered all over my journal.
Defending Your Life
This is a light-hearted comedy starring Meryl Strept and Albert Brooks, a guy who I think is one of the funniest ever on film when the script is right. This script is right for Albert. I'm not sure many would call this an inspirational movie, but its storyline about having to defend the way you lived after you die, will really make you think about courage vs cowardice. Watch it and tell me if you can ever chicken-out again.
