"The Best That I Could Do"
Stories by Patrick Combs
Ah, the stories we could tell
And if it all blows up and goes to Hell
I wish that we could sit apon a bed in some motel
And listen to the stories we could tell
- John Sebastian

These are stories from my life - all entirely true. The first story I wrote was my $95,000 story. I wrote it as a matter of self-defense, (to protect myself from a mad-bank), and finishing it took a long, long time. Writing and posting the story brought many surprises. First off, that I - a guy who 'didn't like writing' - actually did find something about wrestling with the sentences fulfilling. Secondly, that some people wanted me to write up more. So I took a stab at another story, and another and another and ... and now they've become the most popular part of my site. I intend these stories to be nothing more than true accounts of memorable times in my life; perhaps to be my own journal of times I never want to forget. But since I post them publicly, may at least one of them, feel to you, like time well spent.
